Dreamcatchers

There have been many different versions of the dreamcatcher legend.  I myself have read at least four different ones, and they're all beautiful tales.

All of them are similar, in saying that the intricately woven web within the hoop catches the bad dreams, holding them for the morning sun to destroy, and lets the good ones filter through to the dreamer. Many catchers have feathers on them somewhere to help the good dreams float gently down.

Some legends claim that bad dreams aren't as smart as the good ones, and that's how they get caught; the smarter good dreams can find their way through the hole in the middle.  Makes sense to me!  Mothers would hang these dreamcatchers above their baby's cradleboard, to prevent them having nightmares.  Of course if a dream is meant for a specific person, bad or good, a dreamcatcher will be of no use against it.

I've read that even once a child outgrew the dreamcatcher, he or she still kept it.  He would hang a small momento of important achievements he or she has made; winning a race, or killing a wolf that may have threatened the village.  That's what I do with my dreamcatcher, it makes the 'catcher mean more to me.

All of the dreamcatchers that I make are unique, and I only have one of each.  If one is sold, I mark it as such.

NOTE:  Dreamcatchers not currently for sale online.  They are here for display purpose only.

Here are a couple three things that are not actually dreamcatchers, but are still nice.

Any arrowheads or eagle feathers are only replicas.  They are stone and feather, but not original arrowheads or real eagle feathers.  From what I understand, as the eagle is an endangered species, I think it is illegal, at least in this state (Nebraska), to buy or sell eagle feathers.

On some (mostly the thick, black-webbed and the thick, white-webbed) the webbing may feel a bit sticky.  I often use something called waxed linen.  It's pretty strong, easy to work with, and looks nice.  So if it's sticky, it's just the kind of cord I used.

Here, also, is a page with buyers' comments.

Most 'catchers will be shipped in a variety of different boxes. I recycle boxes; might as well not waste paper and cardboard! All dreamcatchers, however, are shipped in sturdy, safe boxes, and are appropriately protected.

(All length measurements are not including the rawhide or cord on the top to hang it with.)
